Please check out my new track 'Nutn 2 b sed' and post your comments here!!!

This tune's over a year old now. I originally put it together in acid pro 4 and then used sx2 to finish it off. When I made it, my production knowledge was basic at best (whats mastering?), so there are some schoolboy errors. But out of all the tracks I've done, my limited number of listeners rate this one the best so far. Thought I'd put it up while I finish my latest piece, which sports FM8, Battery 3, a couple of Massives, Kontakt 3, loads of Guitar Rig and should be done in a day or 2. I think it's going to walk all over this track, but we'll see... until then, feel free to rip this tune to shreds.

I think mastering is overrated. So don't worry too much about it. As long as your balance is ok and you avoid frequency clashes well enough a tune can be pretty good without serious mastering.

Now the feedback:
the bass you drop at 1:44 seems to be panned extra wide. I don't think this is a good idea for basses to work. Atleast the low end <150Hz should be kept mono to avoid phasing.
The track is deffo not bad, but the structure is a bit unclear and some melodies seem to be accidental rather than composition. Like the ones in the breakdown. Your drumline sounds like a complete sample that is played over and over again, it would be good to have some edits to keep things fresh and exciting.

Cheers for the review. Your right about the accidental sounds in the breakdown and the bass being panned, and the beat. I knew when I uploaded it that it was going to get ripped apart, I rip it apart. When I put - (whats mastering?) - it was a joke, sort of how wet behind the ears I was a year ago Smile Next week I'll upload my new tune, hope you'll check it out...

hello mate. cool intro that synth / fx sounds that pitches up and down (can't tell) is a bit too out of control, think that could have a bit more attention.

mad techno drop, slight tech-it feel to this. on the structure i reckon that needs more attention, good ideas in different parts of the tune, but they need to flow better

nice build up, not too keen on the weird synth in intro, maybe use it every now and then but it gets annoying looping over and over.
drums get a little repititive after a while, needs more variations to keep things fresh.
kick doesn't have enough beef in imo, seems to get lost behind the droney bass.
different sections could use some better structural work to help them flow between each other more smoothly.
not a bad track tho.

Pretty good but there's some EQ issues here. In particular, the low bass is panned far too wide and it's much too dominant. It sort of sucks out all the energy from the tune, imo.

I wasn't overly impressed with the beats. Yes, they roll well but it's easy to tell where they came from.

The lead synth melody (from 1.45 onwards) is ok but probably too much like techno for me. It needs to do more to excite the listener. The lead synth from 1.04 to 1.45 is pretty good tho but a tad too loud.

There's a few FX in the background which are muddying the mix, imo.

Not bad. There's some nice vibes in there but it still needs a lot of work I reckon.
