I've got a pair of these Sony MDR-V500 headphones...
... but I just don't rate them. They're probably one of the better pair of headphones you can get for under £50 but I still find them a little muddy and bass-heavy. Whenever I produce tunes I always alternate them with these Sennheiser HD-215 headphones, which are better because they are flatter and give you are more accurate sound. You have to work to get your bass to sound big enough on these. On the Sony headphones it's too easy.

AKG K241 - semi-pro monitor headphones, very cheap for the quality they have.
Couldn't find a pic, but I also cannot stop saying how good these are!

yeah, IYO. cause I dont like em, they dont have much bass but the mids are very loud. whats the point of using headphones for which you have to use eq's to balance em. IMO 1210 are better suited to dnb

I got a pair of Sony MDR-V500's too as my 'cheap' reference pair (same one as quoted by Tomos and Halph). My main ones are Sony MDR-CD770 but they are pretty worn, have them for like 15 years now. Would love to get a new pair of these 770's since they sound very detailed, but Sony doesn't make them anymore
I also use a pair of tailormade Variphone ES-2 in-ears.

I know what you mean bro, I get this all the time with the Sony MDRV500 headphones. They sit on the bony part of your ears and it fucking hurts after an hour or two. I have to swap them with the Sennheiser HD 215 cans which sit around the ears. They're deffo a lot more comfortable and they block more background noise too.

I got them a while ago - about 18 months ago - from Currys for about £50. I also got a pair of the Sennheiser HD201 for about £10 (brand new) from Amazon cos of all the rave reviews they received. But don't get these if you want a decent pair cos the sound on these is pretty thin for producing. They are fantastic considering the price, but like I say definitely not good enough for serious-to-semi-serious producers.

I use Technics RP-DH1200. Great quality, nothing to complain about. Great for producing and DJing.

Yeah right...
Sennheiser is a piece of crap. Sony have no really good headphones either. Maybe 1 or 2 models.
Technics, on the other side, have good quality, but it has begun to drop lately.
Don't know about Bose, though...
