Do i have to use my midi keyboard that i downloaded? or am i just suppose to be able to hear the samples? Also how do you run it back so you can hear the beat you made inside of NNXT. You have to use your midi keyboard to hear already loaded samples.
You can only listen to samples when you are adding them to the selected zone.
With the play feature in the load menu.

Virtual keyboards are ok - Sort of. - HaHa.
I'd look into buying a real midi keyboard when you can afford to though.
M-audio keyboards are pretty good & also pretty cheap.

I have the M-audio KeyRig 49.

oh yeah.
I forgot.

You don't make a beat inside of the NNxT.
Basically it's a sampler: You add various sounds to specified zones within the NNxT.
Then you assign them to keys on your midi.
[Single keys or ranges of keys. Say like between C1-C2 on your midi etc ...]
Which lets you control what your keyboard plays.

Each sample zone you add can also be manipulated in the NNxT in numerous amounts of ways.

LFO's, Filters, Pitch, Attack, Release, Sustain, Octaves etc ...
The list goes on.

Aye the NNxT allows you to control each sample whereas the Dr Rex is rather more straight forward and simpler.

Hence the reason why everyone on here keeps saying to use the NNxT instead.

Yeah i use the ol Dr if the break/loop is pretty much as i want it.

i use the NN-XT when i need to filter/eq/compress elements of it.

I got a combi patch i use for my breaks the already has eq's and comps set-up in it.

It doesnt have any eq settings already saved cuz that would be a bit pointless as every sound needs eqing in a different way

but the eq and comps are there set-up so i can route each type of sound to a certain output them eq all the kick, snares, hats and ghost hits the same so i can quickly clean up a break and move on.

Give me 2 secs and i'll upload it

Right here you go

http://www.sendspace.com/file/081re2

Right, when you got it, Fire up a combi load this patch, then open up the nn-xt and load a rex break via the patch browser not the sample browser.

Doing this will load up the break with each hit pre assigned to separate keys (nice)
now go through the break and route the hits to the following outputs

Kicks 1-2
Snares 3-4
Ghost Hits 5-6
Hi-hats 7-8

Now the kick and snare have comp first then eq and the ghost and hats only have eq.
These are then routed to a mixer, which has a malstrom as the first send with everything bypassed other than the shape which is set to saturation for making the hits a bit more crunchy if you so wish.

now the Comp and Eq above the mixer are for the whole break for final shaping. Also i added a stereo controller in case you want to narrow any stereo breaks.

I've made it so that all the eq's and all the comps can be bypassed at once for quick reference to see if what you are doing is actually helping the break.

Enjoy and let me know if you have any more questions about it. Big Grin

*EDIT*

forgot to add that if you save the breaks to another patch you'll soon build up a nice collection of pre-processed breaks so you can increase work flow Big Grin

No problem

just realises that on that patch the return from the send is wired wrong.

its coming from the oscillator output of the malstrom and it should be coming from the left channel only of the main output.

This might not work for you you'll just have to try it and see.

Bomes virtual keyboard ?
No none that I know of ...

Here's the link to the Virtual midi keyboard and the maple virtual midi controller drivers I used before I saved up and bought myself a midi piano.
Which I suggest you should do the same !
When you can.
Here's the link: http://www.adrive.com/home/downloadfile/22558784
Comes with the manual and everything.

And here's a little something else:

Basically you select the key range in the zone area and then you can assign them to play on a certain amount of keys or just on a single key.
Remember that the "Lo key - Hi Key" tells you where the sample starts and where it ends. You can adjust it with the knobs under the Lo Key - Hi Key bit or you can adjust them by clicking and dragging on the highlighted zone itself.

I hope this cures a wee bit of your confused mind ! Wink

Do you mean upload the Reason rns song file ?
You need a webstorage site for that.
Here's the link to the one I use which is free and has a 50GB storage space:
http://www.adrive.com/home/index?dir=

And here's the link to another one that quite a few people here favor - Although I'm not sure why !? Huh
http://www.yousendit.com/static.php?key=compareaccounts

Just drop us a link to the uploaded file on here with what you need help on and we'll see what we can do. - HeHe Wink

Oh another thought. Maybe this will be of some use to you - I don't know.
