inspired by another thread (in which someone was badmouthing some other guy who was just promoting his party , i think we all know who ) , i asked myself the question :

what is it these days with the pessimism and the badmouthing of other parties/djs on threads on forums ...

i mean , on DOA ( only went to the site for the first time one week ago) for example almost all the threads i've seen are crap , they ONLY have an offtopic banter section imo Shocked they're already gone past talking about dnb and parties , has it all been said before ?

is it a new "fin de siècle feeling" but then not becoz its the end of the century but becoz dnb is getting more and more commercial ? So that it is at the end of its "underground" existence ????

really don't know where all these negative stuff nowadays is coming from , maybe becoz more and more people are getting involved in dnb ? I mean , i do think that it can be positive aswell (more cashflow to get the parties going so more parties ; more cd's and records in the shops coz they know it sells ... ) but why has it gona the wrong side ???

if anyone knwos of has a suspicion please share it with me Smile

The main problem with DOA is: not enough moderating imo. If every time someone there started a flame (almost every thread there, sadly enough) they sould stop the flame, and get back on topic.
Been on DOA for about 3 days... then I'd seen it... much BS, almost nothing intresting.
I don't know what's up with these people, I suppose they think it's fun to do that Roll Eyes

Hmm soz to sound like a noob - but wth is DOA? Link? ( if it's worth it :p Wink )

Anyway - that dnb is becoming more and more commercial is clear, but it will still take some time before it really hits the masses, but I know a friend stopped going to dnb parties because he found it too commercial, now since half a year more or less, he's hitting break-core and electro (and sometimes acid) parties, cause they were disgusted by the commercial shit they saw at a full cycle in the AB... (kosheen & stuff)
Now he really is anti-dnb minded because of that Frown - the only thing that would save dnb according to him is that it should become much faster...

well , doa is an abbreviation for www.dogsonacid.com

all the threads there aren't saying anything a all , just pure crap ... but you can check it out for yourself ej Wink

yeah , i also have some friends who have switched over to breakcore , elektro , sometimes goa or acid Frown

im still pretty happy with all the possibilities we have here in belgium party and music wise Big Grin altho i must admit that i am going to lesser parties these days , but that has more to do with school and the boyfriend than that i find it too commercial , i just pick out the less commercial and more interesting events , and once in a while , if the line-up is right , i might be seduced to go to even a commercial one like rumble ( their line-ups are just solid Big Grin Bigup )

if people stop listening to music because they think it has become too commercial they were not in it for the music themselves in the first place, imo
ok, your taste can change, but dissing what you used to love so much??

about doa: don't get it either, i blame it on
violence in society in general
attitude on the internet
english youth (don't wonna generalize but there's something 'agressive' about them)

Exactly my thought Big Grin I always wonder if people that say such things are into the music or into 'being underground'?

OK I can understand that you don't want to go to parties anymore if all the partygoers around you have evolved into commercial idiots, but that's a whole different thing than stopping to like the music itself?? Confused

I mean I never go to techno parties anymore since they became the place to be for the local johnnies, but I still like the music from the time I was still going to techno parties weekly!!

Well I must say that I lost interest... I sometimes have to work at big techno events and only recognize a couple of songs in every DJ's set...

So maybe if dnb goes commercial I will lose interest too in the end...??

DOA doesn't let you say 'clownstep'...they censor it if you do...and yeah, alot of haters are on there, but i mainly go there to post links to my tunes or to the production thread, most of the hating is done in the other threads...

I think it's more like thechronic says - it are the people that go to the parties... He isn't that young anymore (he'll be 30 somewhere this year I think) and always followed the "underground" styles, he also doesn't see much renewing in DnB.

I also don't like the public anymore that goes to techno parties, I only go now and then to smaller parties, where I know the public will be nice. I still like techno a lot, but the public now sucks big time, and most of the party scene there is only commercially driven...

@ koffie

well there's nothing contradictory in what thechronic and i are saying. Wasn't talking about your friend in particular but about the phenomenon in general.
i guess you didn't really get my point: i actually meant that it's strange if people stop loving the music because it has become too popular (more people, parties, releases).

I'm feeling it myself as well. More and more people who don't come to the parties for the music makes me wonna stay at home. Of course it's normal that commercialisation also has its effect on the tunes that are released and played. I can complain and nag about it, but that doesn't mean i stop loving the music itself.
If your friend says dnb is not renewing and should become faster, then i don't think you can really blame commercialism for that, it's just a change in his own taste.
Got some friends who lost their interest in dnb as well.. it's just some kind of saturation i guess "it's always the same"

where i live dnb is still very much underground...

I dont actually understand what u mean wen u say that the musics too comercial (or becomming that way).

The way i see it is that its not commercial ENOUGH... I no it sounds weird but, the only places (where i live) that are selling dnb are little record shops that are slowly goin out of business.

If there are i dunno 10 really commercial songs that come out that are alright, then people will start to be more atracted to the music.

I reckon then that more people will start to appreiciate dnb.......

(Sorry but i can only talk from my own experience... and im not too wise!)
