Please check out my new track 'Broken Dreams (ft. Blake & Reegz)' and post your comments here!!!

So I listened to some DB tracks last Sunday for a few hours and tried to figure out how to make something like the pros...Here is what I came up with...If this doesn't make the cut I don't know what will!

As far as mastering goes I did my best, taking to account what the nice peepz here have told me...if you still think it sucks then be my guest master it yourself...

Instruments: 6 different bass samples courtesy to DnB.be, custom sytrus string + 2 bright short strings, some tweaked effects, custom drums...

Vocals by Blake and Reegz

Hope you enjoy...

Nice tune mate, loved those vocals. Here's a stupid question for you - were they from FL? Yeah, it's got quite a pro sound to this. That loud, distorted bassline is too loud tho. It overpowers everything. Nice use of sub here. All pro tunes have decent subs, it's something that seperates them from most non-pro tunes, imo. I reckon those beats need beefing up tho. They're little dry and flat at the mo. Some more ghost snares and a slightly dirtier sound would be ideal.

The vocals are several times on the edge of being off tone in the intro. Drums are rock solid.
When the basses come in it is too clear that you want to display them all instead of making good melodies with them. The drums are pushed into the back by them. It sounds like you are doing 2 tracks at the same time, one is about atmosphere and vocals, the other is rough bass business. I prefer the first one. Some of the rough basses lack timing so they don't fit on the drums sometimes.
All elements are there, just try to unite them more.
And that mastering sounds just right to me.

Thanks for the input Tomos and Battle drone...

As for the vocals being from FL (Tomos) your right (I use FL 7 to program my stuff)...since I didn't have anything else of my own...(they seemed to fit) I used these to give the tune some life...and as for the vocals being of sync (BattleDrone)...I'm not sure how the right way should be, but ill try...if I cant get it to sound right maybe u can lend a hand?Big Grin ...and as for the 2 track thing...got that idea from John B Broken Language...was also aiming for the clean intro to dirty sound but my knowhow limited me in achieving that....so I ended up whit this...which isn't bad right...Oh and the rough basses not meeting the drums and eating them up...yeah I felt it to..guess less compression and some EQ editing is in order? If one of you guys would be willing to help me get this tune right I would be most grateful..Big Grin

Thanks again...

good sound quality on the intro. not too sure about the basslines when they drop in the presence is certainly there, not sure if the quality is may need a bit more work.

vocals are sweet. not a bad tune overall Smile
