Please check out my new track 'dnb thang #7' and post your comments here!!!
This is a track that I've been working on for a while. When I stumbled across this lovely forum, I was inspired to put the finishing touches on it and post it up. It is untitled devoid of vocals as of yet. I'm working on that as we speak, so I'll post the vocal version with a title when its finished. It is dnb thang #7 because I haven't done much dnb lately and it's the 7th completely different (4-8 hours of work!) rendering. I hope you enjoy my first drumnbass.be tune!
I like the half time shizzle, not to keen on that synth though.
wobble comes in....doesnt feel like a wobble track
beats dont have any energy
seems like you have some techniques but they dont seem properly executed sorry
beef up those drums, lose the wobble, dont try to sound like pendulum...nothing against pendu. just not my cup-o-tea.
peace

That first section could easily be turned into a Rage Against the Machine tune. The synth melody fits perfectly with their style. Very nice stuff. Actually, Pendulum - especially if you listen to their live sets - sound very influenced by RATM. The second half: like 2clix said, the beats are really lacking oophm. The pattern itself sounds really, really good but it sounds like there's too much high-pass on them. You deffo need a fatter kick and a heavier snare.
Basslines are pretty good, I enjoyed them. Not too sure about the wobble bass tho. It doesn't fit in a track like this, imo. Plus, it sounds too clean.
Overall, an interesting tune mate. I haven't heard many tunes like this one on here. Welcome aboard the .be ship!

wicked itro its straight to the point, straight in with the dirty bass. like the hip hop style intro too, i like the build up i think it leads to the drop well... which brings me on to my next point, i was kinda disapointed with the drop, i mean tunes good, but i just thought that the intro was so dirty, really leading into pure filth and darkness. part from that, breaks ok, allthough i think it could be a little bit louder, especially the snare

Sounds like you are not really new to the bizz mate.
Good stuff, a bit too much distortion on some elements in the intro, a bit too much panning here and there, some levels that should be adjusted, but this tracks is pretty solid as is.
Has a Pendulum taste to it imo.

I think the biggest problem is that the sound is a bit obvious... the synth lines are relatively simple and lack complexity. I think doubling up the melodies with a different high/mid/low synth with different effects would broaden out the sound a bit. I do like the growling bass in the intro a lot however.
Beats could be more driving and up front.
I think the initial "Rage" riff is a bit plain- maybe throw in a few extra notes so it breaks the linear movement up and down the scale.
I think the drop at 4:00 could be a little better executed. I see what your going for but i think it sounds a bit hollow and the drum edits lack direction.
I enjoyed the end when you brought in the pads. If you can widen the melodies throughout the tune, I think you'll have a solid track.

i use 1/2 speed intros quite a lot so i see where ur coming from. nice synth melodies in the intro - catchy! although i have to say it sounds a bit bare - could do with some fx in the background to fill the "emptiness".
so overall i say nice ideas, nice melodies, nice synths, but needs to be filled out to acheive a fuller sound also think the structure could do with a bit more work
Thanks very very much for the input! You can't get comments like that face to face can you? I'm working on a new one right now, I can't keep perfecting the same track for too long or I'll go nuts. Rest assured I'll put the comments to good use once the new one is "finished." I imagine they'll help me organize this new clusterf*** of midi clips!
Thanks again, I'll do my best to review your tracks as well, as its a two way street around here as I understand.
