side-chain compression in fl? not sure if this is the desired effect but here goes newayz:
load a kick n send to channel 1 on mixer and load a bass n send to channel 2, whack a peak controller on kick channel (1) and a compressor on bass channel (2), the link the threshold/ratio to the peak controller (click on link to controller >> internal controller), so every time kick hits, you can adjust the amount of compression i.e. ducking.
not sure if this is the correct technique or achieves the same result, im still trying to find out how to work it properly.
can anyone shed any light? not too up on my knowledge of side-chain compression really (or compression in general tbh
)

ive heard people say they swear by side-chain compression, helps the kick to sound likes its coming through the mix naturally rather than being 'forced' though with eq etc, although shouldn't be a problem if uve chosen good sounds and processed/ mixed em well. i still think side-chaining in fl is sumin im defo gonna investigate and try to get to grips wit.

you don't get much choice over how it's side chained, unless you know math and all that shit, actual sidechaining is through compressors, they have different curves and differnet attacks and releases, the side chain in fl is a sort of detection but not through a unit that is made to act as a compressor to add to the quality of the music.
yes it can be good, no it's shit in fl. if you could side chain it through a wave compressor, yea it would be better,y ou get a choice.

hm... sidechain is one of 3 techniques used to clearify the stuff.
1) panning (which impossible at these freqs): L+R, as well as distance\remoteness
2) eq'ing (cutting the edges & making "holes")
3) side chain (simply a "thing" which does the needed)
in fl it's a bit shitty to get this workin, still u can get this full "bouncing" effect ("overload") if only u r lookin for this.
You can get almost everything u want "peaked".
Your technique seems pretty right for me...
