As those of you who own a creative soundcard and run a windows vista system might have experienced: The vista drivers suck! In most cases they do not give you half of the functionality you bought your card for.
Luckily, there is a genious hobby programmer who has been able to adopt the XP drivers in such a way, that they can run on vista, giving you back the full functionality of your soundcard.
Everybody happy right?
Apparently not, Creative asked the programmer (daniel_K) in a very unfriendly way, to stop his activities, and no longer help their users, where they can't. Moreover, Creative admitted to have intentionally limited the functionality of the soundcards in vista, and therefore accused daniel_k of stealing their intellectual property.
As a result, thousands of posts have been placed on the creative support forum, all by unhappy customers disapproving this way of working.

I know not a lot of producers here favor creative soundcards, but still it might be interesting for the people who use one (perhaps as gaming card, ...)

Indeed, that will teach people using this and that, but it's shitty behaviour. This should not go without some angry response. Don't buy their hardware.
Avoid Emu soundcards too, they are also from the asses at creative.

i don't buy their hardware nor the operating system it's on. i tihnk that's what we ment, in teahcing people to purchase the products. you said the same thing. :/

i got an emu 12 -12 card have no problems and is a good souncard
bbetter than the delta and audiophile which are shitty
never had a problem at all.

got the 1616M and it runs sweet on vista
totally agree that creative shouldnt be takin that kind of action against the programmer dude but personally i'd recommend the card to anyone
