I believe that thread is more focused on 'build ups', not specifically snare rolls.

surely snare rolls are jus a a part of the drum build up? not sure what you mean really.
try whacking a low pass filter, if your using fl then try the fast lp filter, and automate the cut-off and resonance, or get something like the kjaerhaus classic auto-filter, the 'outside headphones' preset is a personal fav of mine. i always like to mess about with half-step and 1/4-step snare rolls at the ends of bars too, always sounds cool. jus highlight the end of a bar in the piano roll and press alt+u to bring up the quick chopper, quick way to do it.
alter velocitys aswell, makes it sound more interesting and realistic rather than repeated machine gun fire. sound effects like rises etc always help to create the build up a bit better.

most of the drum rolls you're talking about, that don't sound computerized, are drum rolls from actual songs? find a nice funk song that does that beautiful, dun dunka dun cheee. and you'll just copy paste and theny uo'll be like all thoes pros. more or less.

i doubt he wanted to inovate and further the musical world of DnB just compile anohter piece of shit that everyone else has heard before with drums taht sound like shie, and a wobble bass line to digital to even have sub that cuts through. and a blatent rip from a movie if he put even 2 minutes of effort into it, that'll get removed instantly, not because of copyright but because it's straight up just a rip and sounds liek shit withough any effort what so ever. and never even give 2 reviews to get producers rights on this site even.

LOL. Word. I think the best one yet is, "How do I get the Clayx/Noisia/TeeBee/Spor sound?"

I think you will find using internet forums is a great way to expand your knowledge, and i have practiced and had a go at snare rolls, however i was wondering how everybody else did it. This would be quite a shallow forum if we couldnt ask questions would it not?

Ask Not (VIP) - Q Project, is a good example of the kind of snare roll im trying to master, the drum loop has it all the way through.
Cheers.

not really usually they're just interspared into most packs. the drum rolls give some of the best times to get single hit drums.

"know of any sample packs specialising in snare rolls?"
get on soulseek or limewire and try looking up some james brown, old reggae, ska etc and pick your own breaks out. try googling classic breaks like the "think", "cold sweat" etc, ull find a nice snare roll eventually.
