sorry to bring this up again
not too sure of how this is acheived, constantly reading about producers giving snare extra beef by layering pink/ white noise to the sound, how is this acheived? is it adding noise at a certain frequency i.e 200hz for example or do you add a full white/pink noise sound across all frequencies to give the snare more snap? i can see how this would benefit a drum track but is it really worth it?

slight distortion adds noise. if you wanna add warm noise - split the snare sound and severly cut off all frequencies off the second signal using eq but those 200 hz, then play with distortion. my 2 cents

so split the snare into two with one hitting at 200hz and the other with all other freq's intact without 200hz then distort the 200hz only snare? nice technique, will give that a try. cheers

just get a snare hit froma 909 or and 808 hey are white noise, and layer them both together, usually helps to compress them both togetehre and it'll sound good. generally that's what they mean.

Look up white and pink noise in wikipedia, it's just 2 types of noise.
It can help to make the snare more crispy.
To make it more snappy you layer on a snare that sounds like a bouncing basketball or a tiny bit of a deep tom drum at the attack of the snare.
