Please check out my new track 'Dark Horse' and post your comments here!!!
Hi All, well I registered with this site a while ago, and finally got my producers rights - so this is the first tune I am putting out there. Big up to all u producers who are makin sick tunes on this site!
I used mainly Reason with some aid from Cubase on this one (although now and again I use frooty as thats what I started on).
On this track I was going for a dark roller kinda vibe so used some hardcore samples, menace bass on the sub layered with a Malstorm synth on top to get a twisted sound. As a bonus I recorded my mate scratching, cut the samples up and threw em in there for more effect - let me know what u think - all opinions welcome!

You don't sound like the average newbie, very complex style there man! A lot of sounds at the same time... Good atmosphere building, the track structure needs to be thougth over a bit more, it seems to jump a bit from here to there and back again. Don't overdo it with the scratch sounds, they tend to take over most of the track when you use them so much.
Overall mixdown sounds very bass oriented and muffled. Lift the high end a bit and lower that sub a tad. Also cut the sub under 20Hz to keep the rumble out.

nice , likin the old skool new skool sound , yeah scratchings nice but used too many times , i think they would sound better with some effects over them as they sound too seperate from the track , but loads of variation of the track , nice darkness at 4:00 , lovin that , good work !!!!!!!!!
Yeah, not too bad but not my style I'm afraid. I did like that rolling low bass tho. I'd love to hear that being more dominant. The hardcore style sound aren't my cup of tea tbh. Structure flows pretty well, there's enough variation and build-ups to keep the tune interesting. The beats sound really thin to me. The kick can hardly be heard at all and the snare is waffer thin.
Btw, how long have you been producing? Lastly, welcome aboard the .be ship!

Thanks for the feedback man! Yeah I agree, when you play this tune really loud the beat is drowned by the bass, the reason why I kept the beat so thin was to give more of a rolling effect, but I agree (and so do my mates) that the beat needs a lot of beefing up!
Well started producing on frooty in 2002, worked on DnB for a couple years on and off - and then I got a stressful job, started drinking heavily and gave it up completely for like 3 years!!! Only recently re-started where I left off after hooking up an old producing buddy. I use Cubase, Reason and Frooty all together, jack of all trades but master of none! haha (but each has its advantages in its own right so I try to maximise them).
Will have a listen to your tunes, heard one the other day thought it was wicked. As for my style of DnB, I'm not the most conventional of producers I try thinkin outside the box where possible, I made an Indian DnB tune thats pretty mad, will try and upload it...

Easy mate - so how long you been makin tunes?
The idea of an Indian DnB tune sounds wicked mate. Looking forward to it! I often try to incorporate Asian elements into my tunes - there's just something about the vibe they create. Mystical, intriging, exotic...

Me? Nearly a year now. I got FLS7 about this time last year. Seems like an age ago!

This oldskool stuff really bring me back to 90's
It's advantage ofcourse. Quality of your mix is much better then those stuff
From begining... in my opinion you should place piano deeper in the mix. Some reverbation or stereo enchancing would be nice. Bring out teh drums and add some saturation. Lot's of variation on drums... i like it, keep this song rolling.
I like this rave oldskool stab too. it's good
I really love 1:43. Lot's of darkness sounds go out from this moment. it's call to mind early neurofunk tracks. One thing i dislike is string which going in 1:59. it's cheap. Mayby layer some other pads and make from this little breakdown. Work on details
more details = more intersting tune.
the intro is a bit too long for my liking but you may prefer it that way, i dunno. u got some good ideas there. couldnt quite imagine it at a rave yet tho, something is missing but i cant put my finger on it.
__ Forget liquid, jump up and darkside drum n bass is the way forward!
Thanks again for all the comments everyone! Appreciate them, taken on board, to be honest I really should do a remix on this track, was thinking about keeping the same rhythm on the beat but re-working all the beat samples to make them more dominant (the question is can I be asked! hah I'm sure I'll get round to it sometime..!)
