Easiest way is to downloads some loops and listen to how they sound. Then start adding more drums to the beats. After a while, you will get an idea how drum beats are made.

try here it shows you how to write a basic d&b beat in fl, but you can apply the method to any piano roll, make sure you have you tempo set correctly.

read through the how to topics about drums here and keep on making beats. you'll get better everyday...
its all about choosing the right samples, layering and slightly processing.

Actually, download the song file on the link http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/654/ and mess about with the beats and bass. This template will soon get you going.
You can get some nice rough bass if you mess with the controls. Just play with the setting until you get something you like and expand on it.

to be honest 10 layers of drums in total is about how many i use for each track, minimum., in repsect the the Digital-blonde video above.
4 snares, 2 kicks, and 4 breaks layered...
never use reverb on the kcik, snare a bit if it's a sparce track, but usually the breaks are the only thing that gets any processing... some times distortion sometimes compress sometimes reverb, change it up for my stuff personally, and the break you can do a lot since the kicka dn snare are clean and punching through. but all the bottem end is usualyl gone from the break,, cuz the kick is there.
but how they use a rock break for the high end splash is interesting and it makes sense they do have good splash i been trying to look for some
thanks for the video
good tip about mastering at the end
