Please check out my new track 'Last Stand' and post your comments here!!!
Here's a track I started about a week ago. I have no idea where I'm going with it and it's a bit more a collection of ideas than a cohesive tune. Please tell me what you like or don't like, and a possible direction I can take it in.
Thanks to all the reviewers, and to Binary Havoc for boosting my production skills.
the piano is lovely but that bass sounds so out of place in this tune, the half time shizzle with the violins is dope but that bass just kills it for me.
sounds like herbie hancock on the piano a lil, makes me wana learn to play piano real bad!
sounds promising, cant wait to hear where you take this one
peace

I've been torn between having this go to more of a traditional route with the bass, or using more melodic elements like the piano. I don't actually play piano, or even have a MIDI keyboard though, so I had to input all the notes into the piano roll manually. It was a major pain in the ass
I like the cheeky piano samples to start with! Personally I think that the beat could do with a bit more beefing up, although it rolls pretty well - nice flow. Your "dark" synth when it drops doesn't quite do it for, again, I think the sound needs to have more presence, probably worth compressing it and using a heavier sound. That way you can have the light piano intro and when the tune breaks there is more of a contrast in sounds (light / dark). I see this track is still in its early phases, and theres quite a few directons you could take it - I reckon use more atmospherica fx samples in the intro to build the mood up a bit more. Finally could be worth using a dirty sub bass to support the tune when it breaks. Overall I think its a good start but needs some work
When the bass comes in the drums are weak. The piano is played really well, but maybe it's a bit too much in front for a DnB tune. The bass is a bit too loud. Give more focus to the 2 most dominant elements in the style. For me piano rarely works in Dnb.
The mastering needs work, the whole thing has a reverbish and muddy sound to it.

Baroque 'n' bass!
Interesting tune with some nice melodies but a bit strange. I don't really 'get it', but that's just me. Kick sounds too hard to me and the snare is a tad thin. But maybe that's the sound you were after. Clear, crisp sounds throughout.
