Hi, I run Reason and was wondering about the configuration for the sound card drivers.

I have noticed that if I use ASIO4All V2 instead of DX Primary sound driver, the CPU drops by about two bars on the CPU meter... THis is obviously a good thing, I think Confused , but why the drop and are there any other less cpu intense drivers out there??? I run Reason on an old Celeron 2.6 laptop Huh

ASIO drivers are much more faster than regular windows audio drivers in comparison. Read more about ASIO here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_stream_input_output

ASIO4All is actually a software emulation of hardware built-in ASIO drivers, enabling any audio card to have this interface. The consequences are, it's not so fast as genuine hardware ASIO drivers built by the soundcard manufacturer.

I haven't heard about less CPU intensive audio drivers, maybe try searching for genuine ASIO drivers for your soundcard?
