Hi people,
I got cubase SX3 and the software that comes with it is shite! One thing that i understand is particularly important and is particularly terrible on sx3 is the compression so i was wondering what VST plug ins are great for compression.

And if anyone has anyknowledge on what software is good for stuff like delay. modulation, reverb etc that would be great too.

Thanks!

check out http://www.fabfilter.com/

they have a great delay called timeless which is really flexible and light on the cpu.

they also have 2 good filter units one called volcano....not so light on cpu but has lots of modulation options

and theres simplon which doesnt have the modulation options but cuz of that its lighter on cpu.

and thier comp is wicked. Pro-C its called. gives a good graphical representation as to whats happening with the audio and sounds pretty good too.

but if you are looking for sweet sounding eq and compression you can;t go wrong with the URS channel strip.
Its a bit daunting in that you can chose the year and models of the eq, compression sections and different types of input stages but its really flexible.
its nice for adding boosts on the top and low ends. (if needed of courseBig Grin )

in my experience iv found that most eq's can be good at cutting frequencies but only the best ones sound nice when you add boosts

anyway, thats enough of an essay hope that helps. Bigup

i shoudl really spend my extra time trying to actually finish a tune, its been about 3 months since i finished something Frown

oooooo another compressor i quite like is the one with the mercury bundle from waves. its a bit slow on its release which dont make it too suitable for drums (but i quite like it for parralell comp on my drums Tongue )
much more suited to basses and pads etc imo

hmm the ones that come with cubase (4) are pretty decent!

try getting your sound right with those before you move on to more advanced stuff ...
