So its been a while since massive has been out... Im thinking about investing in it now... but FM8 is the same price. I have never used either of them... are they that good anyway? I have heard great things about massive...

Are there any Logic users who can compare them to ES2 etc?

Thanks !

i enjoy es2 and it's quality, but the envolope control (who cares about that) in FM8 is cool, and massive has a lot more details and even rhythmatic controls, like a step sequencer, which could be useful.

es2 is good enough for anything tho.

I myself use massive more for bass and FM8 i use for pads. I think FM8 has a less rough sound overal than massive and FM8 has easier tweaking methods than Massive. You can tweak presets much easier, whilst if you understand enough about creating basses... synthesis.. then massive would be a very powerfull tool... i would suggest trying them both out before you buy. to see which suites you better.

Yeah

Agree with Invent. Have used both synths and find massive much more suited to bass and lead sounds and FM8 to pads and ambience.

Rate both very highly

I would say massive... it almost invaluable when it comes to basses.

Regardless:

FM8 Tutorial: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pGOtAC6eoCY&feature=related

Check them both out, see which one you'd like better Big Grin

And also one last plug for massive: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SK1ocGVDibg

The guy from Sub Focus makes some insane basses in that video with massive.
