well, one reason is money---a full hardware based studio is very expensive, and you need alot of room to put all the stuff...a pc-based studio is alot cheaper and takes up less room...also, for someone just starting out, a hardware-based studio is kinda intimidating, as alot of that stuff isn't exactly the easiest to use in comparison to a pc-based studio...i guess it's all up to the person, as some swear by hardware, and some swear by software (and it seems alot of the bigger names are starting to use software more and more, since the technology's getting much better)...personally, i'm pc-based cuz i can't afford a full-on hardware studio, and i've worked with people who had em, and found it to be frustrating compared to pc...but to each his own, whatever works best for you, go for it...

that's an amazing piece, a guy from my class can do that one too, even almost cleaner than the original
this guy's got pretty fat beats, too bad he hasn't got the melody + beats part fully under control yet
must check out:
obi jim shinobi (he played at Fields this summer)
