Please check out my new track 'MouthMan' and post your comments here!!!
Hi people,
This is my latest (and probably my gratest) track. I feel like ive just got the hang of most of the components needed to create a decent tune. I have finally got my head round NI:Massive. All the synthesis you hear in this track was created from scratch (apart from some atmosphere). Im especially proud of the fat, distroted, mouthy bass
.
I need a bit of help with the structure of this tune, i dont really know where to go from now. I dont know whether the section after the fat distorted bass really fits?
Anyways, cant wait to get some feedback on this beauty,
ENJOY!!!!

"I dont know whether the section after the fat distorted bass really fits?" -> maybe, depends on what you want to do next, make a huge buildup and then play the middle part again, but this time add some new heavy elements in it so it gives a bigger bang. Don't overdo it in the buildup, the track should be able to entertain after the buildup.
The intro is good, but maybe a bit too long.

Firstly let me say bigup if you have indeed made all sounds from scratch on Massive. I like my synthesis and tend to make most of my sounds from scratch, but Massive still stuns me, dont know where to start.
Little more variation on the intro needed.
EQ out a punch on that main bass synth, soundin like it lacks a little sparkle. Maybe open the cuttoff just a tad higher.
Bass sounds a little faded, cant put my finger on it.
Maybe just me, but Im not a fan of straight Amen beats just rollin on and on, I would put some more 2step elements over the beat.
Like the track though, main bass has potential to sound v. grimey.
Drums need 2 cum forward.

Over muffled sound to this track at the beginning, is this intentional? Because it isnt working.
Once the muffled intro is over everything sounds better.
I dont care for the synth that comes in approx 1:05. More muffled sound after the 2nd drop. Something with the bass isn't quite working at all, wish I could tell you exactly what.
I do like your atmosphere of the track you've created. Nice dark vibes. You need to work on the mixdown big time though. Sounds dont sit in the mix at all at this point.
As far as structure, here is a basic structure u can follow:
intro until 65
1st part 65 - 97
breakdown prior to second drop might be 16 - 32 bars
about 129 or 145 second drop
outro from maybe 193
Something like that.
Keep at it! Nice dark vibes like I said previously. You Just need to work on structure/ arrrangement/ Eq etc.

Yeah, My structure is what im havin most trouble with. In this track i think ive kept everything how it should be structure wise - enough bars and beats in the right place, so i would say its mixable. One problem i had wen giving some of my tunes to a mate who mixes was the structure wasnt bang on so some of the drops would come at the wrong times.
But even though i think the structure is ok i agree that the into seems to long. How can i make the into seem shorter while staying true to the dnb structure?
Also another little question..
How do i make the glide rate faster on massive. Like when i play one note and another overlaps the notes glide between eachother. how to i make that glide faster?
Safe people, hope to get some more feedback soon!

Yep, nice track! Structure needs some tweaking tho. What you need to focus on, imo, is trying to keep the intensity levels high after the drops. At around 2.00 the track goes a little flat, and it stay flat until about 2.30 when the dark synths come in.
I looooove that synth riff at around 1.06!!! And I also love the dark synth melodies in the intro. Super vibes!
Beats are ok but they're nothing special. They've been done many, many times before so it might be an idea to spice them up some more.
