i tend to leave my pads pretty much as they are, just a little bit of eq, i just wondered if anyone else does much to their pads in the way of reverb, phaser, delay etc

I often split the signal to 2 mixer tracks - on the first goes the original signal, clean, and on the second I set the dry setting to 0 and add a bit of reverb and a chorus after the reverb. That gives a nice effect.

pads are suppose to have a bit of body aroundt he 200-700hz, not much mid 1khz are, and mostly the air part in the 3khz area, and a bit of top int he 16khz, the really harsh area 4khz to 6khz, should usually b toned back.

reverb if wanted. but i say you gotta have delay on it. even if it's low mix, and low feedback, with only liek 3 echos that are pretty tight, ti helps thicken it. if you want it to have a really smooth tail longer delay and more feedback, usually makes it good if you have the pad then silence.

playing with how much reverb is on it, shifts how close it is to yuo, and same with delay,y uo don't want it to sound up close and in your face, it's atmosphere. if you increase reverb during the track it actually moves it away, which can help shift focus sometimes, or make cool effects. if you want the track to expand and sound huge, usually before the drop., it makes the drop sound louder and mroe in yuor face in contrast.
