a 2 min preview of something i'm working on..
the drop still needs to become wilder (sum nasty distorted bassline or something), and i got another fat ( 
) melody lined up to be added later on in the track...

Yes, u'r right, the song build-up (drop) should be wilder... it is little.. uhm.. too slow... or at least, not finished (of course that this is preview, but still)...
the drumming is weak.. I think that you should add compression to the snare, add some power to it.

Indeed, drums in intro are fine, but after the drop they need much more power. Make the kick KICK and the snare could use some punch too.
I think adding some silence right before the drop would make the impact much better.
Melody isn't bad but is a bit too much 1993 Bonzai-ish for my taste.
Get some decent speakers, coz apart from the sub, the mid is too loud, especially the melody is a bit too much up front.
