Please check out my new track 'Do You Ever...' and post your comments here!!!

(C) 2007 MaJoR / Mark Reeman

(This track contains no copyright material)

OK, here it is! My first completed DnB track (I've spent a year or so fiddling with Trance and Prodigy style stuff before now).

I did post an earlier working / in progress version a few weeks ago and thanx everyone who responded with their suggestions.

The track is kind of melencholy DnB, not full on but has two different style breaks with different bass underneath.

Built with Ableton Live 6, MiniMoog & CS-80 VSTi's and various samples etc.

I really would be very grateful for your comments on my 1st track in the DnB arena :-)

Thanx

MaJoR

The first bass is very sub-only, could do better with a low-mid part. Not feeling this bassline, it seems like one bass hit on the first position of every bar, it needs to create tension with the drums. Overall the track could do with some extra layers, some slightly melodic elements, some stabs, ... you know the drill.

Overall production quqlity is cool though.

Overall, a really nice track!! I especially like the synth work and melodies. Really nice vocals too, if a tad loud. Excellent melancholy vibes - reminds me of the old Goldie stuff. That vibe was a lot more prominent in the older styles of dnb about 10 years ago - probably cos the people making the tunes were more orientated towards sad urban/city vibes, as opposed to all the middle class kids who now do a lot of the producing.

Anyways, yeah, it's missing a bassline. The sub kicks are excellent tho, but a tad loud. The beats are good BUT... they've been over done too many times. Also, they sound like they were taken direct from a sample pack. I know the first set of beats were definitely featured in an old MetalHeadz track, can't remember which one tho.

But I still love this track, especially the melodies and sad vibes. Big Grin

i like the production on this track - it sounds really well mastered, definitely for a 1st effort. do agree with the others on how it sounds a little old skool. I rekon it would benefit from a tearing synthy melody around the 3.20 drop but thats just my opinion.

anyways yeh the beats are a bit samey but thats ok - everyone starts off with samples, they suit this kind of track nice tho.

definite great 1st tune man. keep it up

sample fest! lol

bottom line m8 too many samples, you could have at least made the beats your self.
nice idea though...

The string chords at the beginning sound really epic, likin that. The tracks got quite an old skool feel to it (which isnt a bad thing), the only thing i would say is maybe more of a section with the bass on its own with out the strings? but im sure other people might dissagree. on the whole good track!
