Hey guys,
Been working on this 'dubstep' track for a few days. Pretty pleased with it. Actually, I'm not sure if it's proper dubstep. It's got a mix of reggae, dub, electro vibes in it - totally different from me dnb shite.
SLINGSHOT DUBSTEP
I don't think it's completely finished but it's nearly there I reckon. Basically, I wanna know if it needs anything extra, or anything taking out, and of course whether you like it or not!
Btw, the bass was created by putting the 3xosc through the CamelPhat3 VST, along with some extra reverb and a few other minor tweaks... nothing fancy or clever (as per usual!)
Enjoy

YEAH MAN, NOT BAD.
SOME COOL TECH-ELECTRO-TRIP HOP ELEMENTS.
BIT WEIRD.
I THINK THE BEAT STRUCTURE NEEDS A LITTLE EDIT.
LIKE A MORE DOMINANT SNARE AND A DISTINGUISHABLE DUBSTEP BEAT.
SEND ME THE ZIP BRO, I'LL HAVE A MESS IF THAT'S OK?
I LIKE IT ENOUGH TO TRY.
I'LL SEND OVER THAT 'COWBOY KILLER' TRACK OF MINE FOR YOU TO DO THE SAME.
IF ITS GOOD ENOUGH FINAL RESULT...WE'LL PUT IT UP AS A COLLAB?
MAYBE WE COULD GET A DUBSTEP RELEASE... YA NEVER KNOW.

Listening to your track as I'm writing this. Man, I love that shit.
The drums hit me big time, too much of that dubstep stuff has really challenged drums, they mostly sound as if they were ripped out of a highspeed break and then just left naked.
Track lacks melody imo, with a clear hook the track could live more.
The lyrics are not bad though, but they create a whole different atmosphere then the rest of the track, you might want to put that flute more on the foreground when the lyrics (the male ones) are not present.
The bass could do with more 80-140Hz freqs and a fat sub around 40Hz, mental image for current bass "slow motion duck". Later on the duck leaves the track for a while and then I like it better.
You got my head nodding to dubstep. This is often impossible as I live life at >170bpm.
Actually my hands are itching to mess with this track too
Chronic might want to add a dubstep tracks section as it's the second most popular style on this site
