i got a new mixer yesterday and i wanted to try it's fx loop, so i attached the send to my laptops line-in and connected the headphone out to the return, so i could apply some fx using ableton..

i know however from recording vinyls to mp3's that there is quite some latency (about 0.5sec) but it wasnt really a problem for just recording vinyls. it is though when you want to apply fx's to a mix you are doing.

any idea to get this lower? (i have asio4all installed but it doesnt seem to work, it doesnt show any inputs or outputs)

buy a good ASIO-sound card, or use asio4all if you don't want to.

tweak your oprating system so it uses the minimum required memory and processing power

ok, sorry, i was a bit 2 fast in replying :p

have u tried the other options i suggested? (true asio sound card)

or google on "tweak vista for audio" / "open source asio vista"

or install xp on your machine so you can use asio4all...(lots of software doesn't support vista yet, so you can install a dual-boot with xp)

or...

install cubase 4.1, it officialy supports vista since tuesday, and you get asio-drivers with it.

or...

make a vst system link with an old computer, so you can spread the processing over 2 systems (or more...)

and...

don't expect to do serious producing with your current configuration, you'll have to invest in some SW/HW at least.
