Nah, I've seen (professionally done) software mastering all-in-one tools that have almost no lag (maximum of 20 ms), on my pc, of course.

Compressors and latency.. it's one of those things... I hate it. E.g. Isothope Ozone is a great plugin, but it delays bad.
