Hi people,
I have been working on this tune and im getting a lot of crackling noises on it. Its mainly when i play the track but im also getting crackling when i use some of my synths e.g. NI Massive, and when i mix down a bassline the crackles get recorded.

Is this because my CPU is overloading or something? Or maby it has something to do with my soundcard or some settings?

Im using cubase, have a pretty decent computer and a soundblaster Xfi soundcard. I also got a lot of audio tracks on this tune so maby that has something to do with it?

Safe

Can you check your CPU load when you are playing back? If it is under heavy load this could well be the problem.

Yo,
in it
I use NIs Massive a lot and it is very CPU heavy, which will bring on the crackles. The way forward is in resampling what you already have.

Peace out BH

increase the sample buffer. you can find it in the settings. for FL it's a slidding bar. the only down side is a higher latency. if you dont actually preforme the stuff live on midi, crank it to max.

also FLL7 just added this, but you can do it for this or any program. in windows press ctrl+alt+del and goto the Proccess tab. there you can right click, set priority > highest. not realtime that's too fast, but setting it above your other programs helps a lot too.

also a seperate hard drive then your main one that runs windows can get more juice outta your PC

Massive uses up to 90% of my dual core.

@Nebulizer In massive there's a setting to use a lower quality when playing in realtime and only use full quality when rendering, this could help too.

But you say thatthe crackling is being rendered too... weird. This has nothing to do with your soundcard unless it makes this noise in any other programs too.

Are you using a decent soundcard/asio drivers?

Ye,
I got a brand new SoundBlaster X-Fi midi soundcard. And my computer has a pretty nice setup: 3.4gig, 2 Hard drives (one for my audio, one for prorgrams), 1gig ram...

And i resample all my bassline into audio as soon as i come up with em. So dunno really?

Ill try changin my sample buffer and ill et back to ya.

Nice machine...
No clue what is wrong with it Confused
Do you encounter the problem with Massive only? What version of Massive do you have? I remember version <1.1.1 which was pretty buggy, so you better make sure you have the latest version.
