lol I don't think so, we're not gonna split because a couple of incapable idiots can't come to an agreement.
They should just fire the whole lot of them and get on with the serious shit instead of arguing like children.

Belgium is a construction, it is artificial. No wonder there are this kind of tensions going on. Never felt Belgian anyway.
They can't split it though, because they can't divide the capital.

i pride myself on knowing my shit but i gotta say, i dont know hardly
anything about belgium.
it seems you have a quiet friendly political attitude in general.
i dont know many enemies or "non-friends" of belgium in the international arena.
so.....how come all the infighting and ramblings?
could someone roughly explain the situation?

we have the same thing in canada, Quebec has always tried to split off from the rest of canada. it's in the middle. last time they were close, there was a horrible ice storm and they were asking the country for help. recently the crappy government made them a "country" by title adn name only..... odd.

How would you feel about your country if in your capital 95% of the people speak a different language than you? I feel like a stranger when I'm there. National symbols mean nothing to me.
If Belgium would split then the money transfers(one reason why politicians want the split) from the north to the south won't stop. Europe will demand more money from the rich north and give more to the poor south. So then there will be no obvious transfer, but it will be there 100% and can't be stopped or avoided.
The north won't split off because they would need to give up Brussels which is financially and politically very important. The south is demanding a "corridor" that will connect their part of the country to the capital (Brussels is located in the north (Flemish) part of Belgium entirely now). Before the elections of june 10 some secret arrangements were already made to allow them to have this corridor.
Before the second world war all courts and army were french speaking only. If a simple flemish peasant would have to go to either one he could be treated like a slave as he had no clue what was happening to him. The rich flemish people thought it was "very VIP" to talk french and look down on the poor farmers. They are the real cause of Brussel turning almost completely french speaking nowadays.
Oficially Brussels is the capital for the flemish region, but it looks very silly with a majority that speaks french in this city.
O well, well always have...
I'm so proud... I would give my life for this country....

I'm not feeling the splitting of Belgium. What will be next? Splitting the provinces more clearly. It's hard to work together and easy to separate. But right now there are just some suggestions from Walloons politicians that are completely ridiculous(towns with more than 10% French speaking citizens around Brussels need to be added to Brussels).
This situation seems to have been created because of personal battles. I've got really good friends in Wallonie. They don't trust the politics either.
