vex'd mix on resonance fm got me into it
skream is good, so is the plastician (ex-plasticman). their tunes and mixes tend to get drilling and grimey, need not to say electro

After checking the tracks from you guys and K9 and others I had the feeling that it sounds "nice", but I'm still not feeling it like I'm feeling DnB, I can't seem to find a "greatest common divisor" of the tracks in this style as I can with DnB, thus I'm unable to judge the music correctly and it doesn't give me the feeling that DnB does (raised pulsrate, compulsive dancing disorder, you know the shit
)
But Dubstep has mystery and darkness to it, so it sounds "interesting". That's all I can reach up to now.
I read on another DnB forum that some person was seeing Dubstep as a long intro to a DnB track which never climaxed. I'm afraid I am at that point right now, not able to fully drop in.

dubstep tracks certainly lack pompousness (spelling?), the overblown producttion etc etc dnb is plagued by nowadays.
but it is DARK and HEAVY as fuck.

I've tried to make some dubstep yesterday night, don't know if I succeeded though. It might be dubstep, it might be slown DnB
It's only a matter of time before some producer will make a mega selling dubstep record (movie soundtrack or something) and then the money will come and next the over perfect production will come... history repeating. Saw it with house, saw it with techno, saw it with DnB, ...
I dunno about the pompousness though, what do you mean with it? example?

compared to the subtler sound of dubstep, dnb seems over the top. and then you have bands like pendulum that go way over the top, comercialization yadda yadda..
can't see it happening with dubstep, its just not explosive enough

You are right about bands like Pendulum, I don't like them. It all sounds sooo polished and thought over. Same goes for most of Noisia actually. There is nothing surprising or scary about it. I can just hear tracks that are emotionless and they bore me to death after 3 or 4 times. But my main problem with dubstep is that I miss the explosion. The tracks don't build up, it's like ambient DnB or something.
When I was doing the track last night I just tought "This sounds like dubstep" and not "wow, fat roller, would like to see a crowd go wild on that one".
I actually can't imagine dancing to dubstep. Could you?

Yes, I want more... a drumline that skips a snare every now and then is not for me... <160BPM is not for me. Non-rolling beats is not for me. I can't dance to just a bassline or a couple of hihats.

That Vid is funny! LOL
Me hatin', no way man!
It has a certain coolness, I try to understand it, but to no extend up to now.
You find the tune in the video cool, I hear no tune actually, it's sounds like a Sudoku puzzle with lot's of empty squares and I am to stupid for this difficulty level
I like THIS tune much more... It got my head noddin' and I could imagine an MC on it. Sounds like slow dark phat hiphop actually.
Actually that Skream guy is really good, I feel this stuff

that might be the problem.
a lot of people take the effort to like dubstep, but if you don't, you don't.
i think it has got mainly something to do with the fact that it's trendy, if it's wouldn't be so known to be a hype right now people would care less, now a lot of people are making an effort "because it's a cool thing".
but taste differs and if you don't like it from the first time i think that says enough

I predict chart succes for some Dubstep producer (with an MC) or a Dubstep-remix of a popular RnB/pop-tune within the next 3 months. Then things will start to become big bussiness. Skream's "Midnight Request Line" is well on it's way to force a breakthrough.
@Pablex: I do feel some stuff, but some things are too far fetched for me. I used to be like that with Techstep too, but suddenly it said "click" in my head and suddenly I thought Techno was too simple for me (although I was deep into that stuff before).
Ofcourse it's hot and I' curious what it's all about, I might "drown" myself in a dubstep mix to see if I can feel it more after a few hours.
For people that want to know what this is all about : see this video.
