a few years back Roland produced drum synths from 101 i think to 909 - the 707, 808 and the 909 being the most famous and sought after.
they were fukin awesome for music styles such as house and trance but to be honest i never use any of those sounds for drum n bass. well maybe the sounds from the 909 are useful for adding beef but yeh imo they sound a bit dated. better to just use samples.
anyways - in reason u have the redrum - u can set up the appregiator on that to make a loop. thats basically what u could do for the drum synths that roland made so i assume u would use it in the same way.
Get rebirth from Propellerhead software, it's free, it contains an 808 a 909 and 2 303's. Can be used in Reason through rewire I think, otherwise you could bounce the sounds you want from rebirth and load them as samples in Reason.

for the one hit bass stabs, high-pass it and layer a 808 under it, MEGA BASS mmm. 808kick is deeper and smoother than a 909kick. the 909Bass Drum kick is a bit thicker. 808 just is total pure bass/sine wave.
303 are basslines, by the by.

you can download the rebirth refill for free from the propellerheads site. it has all of the 303. 808, 909 samples plus all of the mods that people created for rebirth
ReBirth does not work on Windows Vista though.
been working on it for a couple days now...
it gets tot he test to see if you meet the minimum requirements and it says it's far above the minimum requirements and the closes when you close the results of the test...kinda bummed me out

why you care? get vista off of microsofts site. theyre giving it for free, testing purposes. it works fucking great, didnt have ANY issues for almost 4 months now
yeah i know, i went lazy and kept the iso and mounted it virtually using magicdisc... so it's the same thing, but i'm going to burn it and try it as a disc just in case.
that will give you loads of samples of an 808 for you to use in redrum. There is also some info about it for you to read.
If you want to get other drum machine samples, use KB6.de, there's fu*king loads on there, although a few require a donation to be downloaded.
I recommend the Ensoniq ASR-X, it's awesome!
Oh yeah you will need a program such as winRAR to sort out the downloaded files as they are compressed.
P.S. If you type in 'KB6.de' and it goes straight to a different site, then just type in 'KB6' and you will get it. Have fun!
I found an 808 refill about year ago that's pretty nice (from some torrent, don't remember where exactly). But I'm always interested in new machine samples, even if it costs a little bit lol
Adding both to my favorites/bookmarks.
big up
