On Friday October the 12th, Champion Sound brings “King of the beats” Aphrodite to LVC Leiden. Since 1991 Aphrodite scored several big hits, with an enormous amount of remixes and bootlegs like Luniz’ – I got 5 on it, Fugees – Ready or not, Jungle Brothers – Jungle brother and his own productions like Style from the dark side, King of the beats, Woman that rolls and Bad ass. Without any doubt Aphrodite is one of the true pioneers of jungle and drum&bass.
Together with his musical partner Mickey Finn, Aphrodite started the legendary Urban Takeover label and therewith set the foundation for the ‘jump up’ drum&bass sound; a bombastic combination of uplifting beats, heavy wobble basses and hip-hop samples, which is still very popular today. Natural Born Chillers’ Rock the funky beat, for example appeared on his label, growing out to a world-wide dance floor killer in no time!
In the meanwhile Aphrodite has been active as a dj and producer for more than 15 years now. With his energetic and hip-hop overloaded sets he still brings worldwide club and festival visitors in true ecstasy! Aphrodite will undoubtedly bring down the LVC!
