Hi there,
Im just after a vst that will be good for vocals, something like an auto tuner and something to robostise the voice. Its the type of effect i hear in a lot of tunes, for instance 'Harder Better Faster Stronger' by Daft Punk. the tunes kinda lame but im after something that will give the same type of effect.
If anyone knows the type of effect im talking about i would love to know what software to find that will do it.
Thanks

Im lookin for something more diverse and complex.
I want to be able to edit a vocal sample so that it playes clear notes e.g. i could have a simple sample of rapping vocals, and add this effect to change the pitches to make it sound like a melody. So the voice itself will sound like a synth, playing whatever notes you put in, in the words of the sample.
Complex, but i hope you understand. there must be some software that does this. I have heard it before.
Listen to that daft punk song and youll understand.

Sounds like Chinese to me dude, sorry. Especially when I keep that Daft Punk track in mind I can't see where you are going.

No serious, Vocoder does exactly what you describe. You can get some super complex ones, depends on the number of bands it has.
There are other things you can try to get a simliar kinda effect, maybe putting the sample into melodyne perhaps. But in all honesty, a vocoder is what you're describing.

Its not that hard man, its the obviouse robot voice that sings the lyrics the whole way through.......
Does anynoe know the names of any decent vocoders that i can buy/download, or are we just talking about the standard vocoder on cubase for example? And whats Melodyne.
thanks

vocal synths actually sound like people. vocoders are what's known for the "robot voice"
odd.

Does anyone know of any better vocoders that i could buy or download than the one that comes standard with cubase.
I have tried playing around with it but cant get anything remotely like what im looking for from it. It just seems to add some airy and remotly robotic kind of effects to my vocals. A lot of the presets dont work, maybe thats why?
I have been to a few House raves where the DJ speaks/sings/MCs into a mic and it comes out with a similar effect to the one i have described. His voice is all in one pitch/note (or even played as a melody) and robotised, so every word he sings into the mic comes out the same pitch and with the robotised sound (no matter what note he sings) similar to the voice at the start of that repulsive wavz demo track. This must of been some kind of hardware he had in his setup but surely theres some software that will do this?
Is the vocoder exactly what im describing? If so, there must be something wrong with the vocoder i have on cubase because i cant get close to a musically robotized vocal.

I think you might be looking for something like Celemony Melodyne or GSnap (free).
Definitely different from a vocoder...

oooooooooo
well there's the Vari-Os, a roland auto-tuner rack mount. there is a "robot" function on it that strips teh soud of ALL pitch, but leaves the timber, allowing for the best auto-tuning/pitch correction.
you can play vocals like a synth. and it sounds almost perfectly natual, but if you push it widly it sounds really perfect and awsome. i swear you hear it a lot more than you think, and you love it everytime you do.
and they times you hear it, you might not even notice it, it can sound so natural.
