Hi people,
I been listening to a lot of Evol Intent, Calyx and Limewax at the moment and want some tips into recreating that kind of sound/genre of DnB.
Im into the grimey beats and hard, ripping, detuned basslines. Could anyone direct me to similar samples used by these artists and similar synth software or presets?
Thnaks guys

no one?...
To be more specific, i want to make some dark and evil DnB. I bought that David Carbone sample cd and thought it was amazing. I mainly just play around with the beats because i feal like a cheat when i use those bass lines and melodies.
So what i need is a synth that is great for making Drum and Bass basslines. Anyone know of any? I have massive but find it too electronic and not gritty enough.
I also want to know of some other good sample CDs for this style of music. I hear that Repulsive Wavz sample cd is good?
Any help would be great!!!

would z3ta be what your looking for... that one got kinda a virus sound.. but its difficult to say what they use. use a lot of distortion and preset editing.

Yeah, i downoaded z3ta, but seems to be very trancy.
An example of what type of basslines i like would be on that Repulsive Wavz sample CD. I have listened to the demo and it sounds exactly what im lookin for (Im gonna buy it soon). But for the sake of creativity i would love to know how to actually make this kind of sound, rather than just usuing other peoples basslines in samples. This would also enable me to make the melodies i want that will match with my tunes.
Its that gritty, detuned type of sound. I hear Andy C with this kind of sound in a few of his tunes too, but limewax is my main influence.
Maby the question is, how to professional sample creators (or producers) make these basslines. Is it all hardware based?

thats true, but i mean you can be very versatile with even z3ta you have to give it a chance and find some good effects and distortion.. and filters... but there are more vsts around and if you look well enough you can find names on dnbforum..

You can do it with hardware or software. There is no fixed way of making grimey basslines, and you certainly don't need specific plugins.
Just load up a synth plugin and add filter and distortion effects and you are almost there.
There are loads of threads on here how to make reeces etc, just add a distortion plugin to it and you instantly have more grime than you can handle, just start tweaking
Half the fun is in the making
Have a look here:
Tutorials / Knowledge base thread (read all production related informations here!)
You find a lot of stuff under the 'bass' heading

i doubt i use the same plug-in on two basslines, except for bass boost, and an eq.

Personally I would put my Sixtrak or my Juno 60 through my Sherman Filterbank
That combination makes awesome bass sounds
I'll make a sample pack

aaahh that guys got a huge fucking thumb nail int he sherman video!!!!!!
Sherman FilterBank 2 shines when it comes to producing the famous sound of filtered loops and has been used by William Ørbit, Fluke, Fatboy Slim, Stereolab, The Grid, Leftfield, U2, Apollo 440, Latinsizer and The Chemical Brothers.

Sweet. I have a multitrack which is an awesome machine, programming it is pretty easy but it's definately not just a switch on and rock out kinda synth. it needs some time & careful programming to get good sounds. Even the slightest adjustments to parameters can have a dramatic effect on the sound. Ultimately its a rewarding synth that excels at pads & bass.
have you had the sixtrack for a long time? How do you like it?
