Nice post...
Am slowly learning the intricacies of Drum n bass and the more I learn, the better my tunes are and the more I f***in love making this music.
This is a great tutorial for folks tryin to get to grips with building a break and while the process should and must remain a personal creative process, there are some guidelines that will without doubt help you bust out better beats.
Interestingly I've heard a number of folk recently saying they work exclusively in audio when building breaks - What's everyone's thinking on that? Currently I rewire Reason into Cubase SX3 and that works wicked for me currently as I can use the filters n such on all the reason modules as well as VST fx once the signal gets into Cubase.
Peace out

... and there you go... (37 times)
Nice find, at least this guy knows what he is doing and he gives you a little peep into the kitchen. There is a lot of rubbish being told about layering.
Some warnings to people who want to look at the video.
- The guy is fairly badly prepared and you might want to watch 2 or 3 times to catch everything he is saying if English is not your native language.
- The full sound track gets turned on a couple of times when you are not expecting it and it is very loud compared to the voice over, so it scared the shit out of me
.
Be prepared

layering with audio is pretty much the same just slower and u can only contral the attack sustain and fade outs on ya drums ya better off on midi man its much quicker audio is a bitch to put variations in ur loops but thats just my opinion nice tut btw

I think there's a distinction to be made between breaks and loops (being breaks played on repeat without any edits or layering).
