If anyone can help me with this it would be ace.................
Lately I have been hearing alot about using pre-made drum breaks or loops (such as the ones that can be downloaded on this site)
I have tried to do this, I have also tried cutting them up to make my own loops or whatever...anyway-
It all seems very good and well, but this presents a problem (I think)......
...... how can you produce the same quality, clarity, and seperation etc of processing all of your drums separately...... by using loops or breaks?
I've tried slicing up a loop and then EQing out the hats on the kick and the snare , then placing them in other channels underneath the original loop so that I can try to process them separately, but still keep the vibe... but that didnt work. Ive tried other things as well with minimal luck.
Help me Plz.

check out recycle. that way you can go in, slice up the loops and take out the bits you want to. but if a hat is played at the same time as the kick then theres not a lot you can do about it, you could use a filter but i dont see the point, just find more minimal loops perhaps, or try programming your own drums.

take one break, and you either keep it the same, or you mix it all up, using dr.rex or fruity slicer, or whatever.
then yuo take some other samples, and layer them on top of each other.
the kick on the kick, snare o teh snare. but the main thing is to get the off beat snare hits. they amke the best sounds, so basicly lookf ro samples that have at least one off beat snare hit, and use them. chop them up and lyer them on top of the original breka.
after that you get a nice pre-made break that's fat and big.

what i usually do (in logic) is to get the rex file, and load it into like 3/4 samplers... so each sampler has the same loop... then remove everything exept the kik from one, everything exept the snare from the other... hats on the next, and presto, each element is on a different track for processing.. and then you can group them to a master fader... with other breaks theyll usually be the whole break in one sampler, cos those are layer breaks, and ill usually just hi pass filter them.

You could also highpass the break you were talking about to take out the kick and the snare and just keep the ghost action and the hihats.
Then use a more mimal break with no percussion played on atleast 1 kick and 1 snare, rip the kick and snare (as they match well, when it 's a good break) and use these as kick& snare patterns on the ghosts. You could even use single hits for that. To get the best effect and the cleanest kicks, replace the kicks in the break by hihat hits so the 2 kicks (the one from the break and the one-shot) can't interfere.

that's the reason i use FL studio for drums, and not lgoic. it's to much work, FL has a very streamlined simple way of doing it. best on the market i say. FL is great for drum loops, this is why the D&B and Hip-Hop guys use it.
