to work out the time for a delay line to delay in time with the music, you divide the tempo of the tune by 60,000 to get the delay syncing... although my delay im using does that automatically if you want... im trying to find out how to get my phaser to phase in time with the tune... i can do it roughly by ear and sounds cool, just would like to know if i can work this out somehow, theres no sync on the one im using (logic pro phaser)

YOU CAN JUST DO MATH

150BPM

150 pre 60 seconds

150/60=.25

that means each beat is .25 seconds.

so if you want it to be 1/4 notes, you'd have to set it to 1 second.

if you can't set the ms low enough looks for another. theres free vst's that sync to tempo and do phasers.

the http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-series.php has 2 flanger and 'phaser' the flanger is what you want, the 'phaser' i tihnk is actually a resonance filter sweep. sounds the same but not.

well something also to looka t is, even if it's 170BPM your melody is probably going at 85bpm

but yea, that's what you need. some phazers might go at hz, and that's even more math, because that's cycles per second. and that's do-able too.

Not really; but most of the phasers I've used use hz as a measurement, instead of time, and I haven't got a clue how to convert from seconds to hz so I use that page.

1 HZ is one cycle a second i thought ?

yea just divide your song BPM by 60 and you got the the number no of beats per Second. On a 180 bpm song this will be 3 beats per second.

that means 1 bar in a 4/4 time song every 1.33 seconds.
So i u want your phaser to :
sync every bar you need to set it at 0.75 Hz
sync every 2 beats : 1.5Hz
every beat : 3 Hz

Hope thats useful

It was, but I think I'll stick with that page. Otherwise I'll just going to give myself a headache trying to figure out how sync things into triplets etc. Big Grin

Yeah, but you'll get a great insight of how synthesizers and effects work Wink
