Is it possible to run a midi keyboard through a midi controller?
im about to buy an x-station and wondered whether that could be run through a larger midi keyboard? would it be set-up so the x-station is connected to the sound card via MIDI IN/OUT and then an extra keyboard run through via MIDI THRU. I only ask cuz ive already got a large keyboard and dont fancy spending the extra cash on buying an x-station with loads of keys.
cheers

yea, should be possible. You need to check that from X-station manual, but that's anyway how MIDI standard is intented. The only catch is, that those synths need to be in separate MIDI channels.

Please note, that X-Station has USB connector - thus you can connect it to your PC via USB, install drivers, and it works completely parallel to your existing setup. In cubase you just need to activate both MIDI input devices or specify MIDI track to respond commands from all midi inputs.

Sorry for asking, but why you intend to buy X-station if you have bigger keyboard allrd? Because of faders? Have you been looking at those MIDI fader boxes novation or M-Audio has?

just link the out of the keyboard to the through of the x-station (or was it the other way around - just try).
The most important thing is to make sure they both have different adresses, so they can't go messing with each other's commands.

... OK. Just asking because X-station is a synth/soundcard/keyboard/midi controller. and costs 450€ even in smallest version. When you could go to that ReMOTE SL 0, non-keyboard midi controller which is supposed to be really cool. and I costs just 300€ or so.
