I alwayz thought it was the tag given to a tune when its remixed by a well known artist and more to the point so it doesnt resemble the original tune very much.

Most V.I.P remixes i've heard are pretty much nothin like the original..

Maybe its gives the remixer more creative licence to fuck about with the tune..

thats what i alwayz thought anyway...

i think its the opposite.
a VIP is more similar to the original than a full on remix.
thats why vip's come out much sooner than a remix most times.
i think the term "VIP", came from the fact that they were not usually released, and only the "VIPS" got their hands on them to play.
also, that it was redone by a VIP rather than the original producer.
although nowadays it doesnt mean shit as far as i can see.

Back in the day it always seemed to be the best mixes of them top tunes, the rare mixes that you heard all the top DJs playing whereas most people just had the standard release version.
The remix that had that little extra about it

But as Seven Gun says, nowdays it dont seem to mean shit, every cnut and his dog seems to make a VIP mix, so it seems to have lost its appeal...

i've read that VIP means that its a mix of the track that was wasn't planned to be released, then a released version of the track will be mixed again, mastered etc.
