after the 300 spartans made the 300 spartans go 300 spartans the 300 spartans on 300 spartans the 300 spartans 300 spartans 300 spartans to 300 spartans.
made with FL Studio 6! a helluva a lot of synths and effects.... like always.
I played with some scales after because of Digital Cause quetions about melodies.
i probably would never have finished if not for him.
been working on this track since i realized how annoying 300 spartans was in the story thread in Off Topic.
You guys rock for not telling me to fuck off.
p.s. i made up the battle sounds for this from sound library. i liked doing that the most.

i like the synth melodies, only thing,
for an even more themed riff, i would do the notes
to a more arabic stylee.

i did use "arabic" style scale in the drop mate. harmonic minor in d. it would maybe more noticable if i did it in c, but the tracks done in d. still harmonic minor is the 'arabic' scale.
just doesn't stick out that much. and that's good enough for me. thanks man.

LMAO . yknow what. i read your first post and thought u were a nutter (in the nicest possible way). but the spartans sample works really well, its quite aggressive. shouts 4 that.
you need to drop some sub bass in this though. its got none at all.
beats are good but theres no low end.
in some way i think i was messing with the timing of the song, slow and fast. pauses give a nice contrast. they make loud thins louder, and fast things much faster. like int he movie 300 when they go between slow time and normal time.
not to be confused with the movie 300 spartans....

Was all that 300 spartans bull in the story thread meant to be a advertising campaign for this track?
You don't need it really, the track can survive on it's own. It's rough, but that's just a side effect, which is cool because tracks that are just rough to be rough get on my nerves.
Not much to say except that it sounds all well done. I don't like halph-step parts in tracks, but that's a question of taste. The melody show-off didn't have to be in, but it doesn't hurt either.

the movie 300 wasn't produced, it was just live footage. i mean they really could control time like that. did you see them. they could fucking build with people like ed gein.
it had several boob shots in it, blood gore, action, even great catch phrases!!! there was parodies even before the movie was released. and snl had some shitty ones, bless their hearts.
using nine inch nails for that sweet ass trailer. every fucking frame of that documentry could be the background on my desktop, as one of my friends pointed out. based on a true story.
and to top it all off, it was the greatest action film EVER.
there's a lot that could be take out of this song, but once you do what then? it's not a dance floor track. it starts with a soundscape. Not a dancefloor track i guess. i dunno what else can be done other than listening and enjoying. because ultimatly this is what music is about. i want a song i want to listen to.
i made this sound dirty without being annoying dirty, the drum track is distorted as fuck, but the kick and snare layerd over top are seperate and compressed individually. gives nice grit layer to the kick and snare. and the inbetweens are the same distorted drum track.
what i am going to do, is during the drop when there's the counter melodie thing to the 300 spartans, i am going to play with that more. drop the melodie sometiems, maybe have something random in it, maybe one of them a quote at the end.

you know what. i just cannot make basslines fit my shit. i try i do, but i just can't fucking do it. besides basslines don't have the impact i want them too. it's fucking hard to get it going like you guys do, and if can get a nice one it'll lag this crappy computer down. still basslines arn't my forte... i just make the kick really deep and hope that's enough bass? is that wrong?

^ its not wrong man. but maybe you should try making some styles where the kick is more important. Just try and use some sub bass. even if its only playing around with some tweaked sine waves that just match the melody.
personally id recommend trilogy.
*edit - maybe your comp (whatever your using) might cope with audio better than it does miidi/soft synths - so use them while your cpu can handle it then just mix them down. im writing my tunes these days then bouncing everything down to audio for mixing jsut cause my comp deals with it better. its only a shitty 1.8ghz processor with fuck all ram

so what is it called when you have drum and bass without a bombastic bassline? i went back and added sub, and fixed some drum rolls. other than that, it's pretty much the same....

some of the fight sounds have some nasty treble

have to agree with others in that it lacks sub...
i really like this mate, good varition good sounds.
Just copy the pattern of your leads onto a synth which is simply playing a real low sine wave.
