I've just realised you can load breaks into the FPC and use it to trigger regions like the slicer, only with the FPC you can work with more than one break at a time, replace a slice with one from another sample, layer slices, use its multiple outputs..
Open a sample in edison, slice it and turn all the markers into regions by right clicking on them and selecting turn into region (Unfortunately you have to do this and you can only do it manually, for now, which is a pain if you've got loads of regions) and save the sliced break.
Next open the FPC and load your sliced break into a pad.
Right click on the image of your break, in the FPC, and select a region.
Repeat this process until you've added all the regions to the pads.
Now open up the piano roll and make a pattern, if done correctly each note should just trigger the individual region.
I hope I explained that properly... heres a .zip file of it in action anyway.

It takes a bit more time to set up than the slicer but its well worth it, once you've saved the regions you never need to do them again and you can save breaks as presets, make templates etc.
I hope somebody finds this as useful as I have.

btw, if you use sound forge you can use that to set the regions instead. Tools/auto region.

I've used the fpc before, but only with individual samples. Good to know you can also load a sample with regions.
