I use Kaspersky now days. My trial had run out, but I managed to get another year free of charge the other day.

I got another year from Barclays Bank. I logged into my internet banking and there was (probably still is) an offer for a years free subscription. I suppose, if you live in the UK, you could open an account, apply for internet banking and get free Kaspersky Internet Security.

Well worth one pound or what ever it costs to open an account now days Big Grin

I have had my mac for four years no firewall no spyware no malware no nothing. Runs amazingly smoothly and NEVER crashes. I guess I am pretty bias. FaNBoIIII!!

Microsoft now offers free antivirus.
Requires a legit version of Windows of course Big Grin

It's available as an update but won't be installed with the regular updates automatically. You need to go and get it yourself (to avoid shit with other antivirus makers they had to do it this way).

Check http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ for details.
I still recommend the free AVAST antivirus too.

Check this PC World report on free Antivirus products...
They have star ratings like the tunes on here, so that shouldn't be too difficult for you guys Big Grin

Furthermore here's an article that compares Free versus Paid Antivirus software and the conclusion is simple... the free ones are just a little less effective but are therefore faster.

ive got free malware bytes, and a full version of spyware doctor the spyware does a scan on your web shizzle every time u turn ur comp on and it takes about 5 mins, then i do a full scan every month just in case, its already got rid of two major viruses and found over a hundred minor that mc afee didnt find, mc afee sucks it cant find viruses and it slows down your comp to the max!
