@PLaGue CeLL: If you could name some releases (or post a link to them) it would surely help. (for example check www.beatsdigital.com). Upto a certain level I'm not against subgenres, but some people tend to push it to rediculous heights.

now thats news.. as far as i know thye dont advertise that way.. it is what it is.. its more about knowing your artist and the type (sub genre if you will) that they make..

industry kinda MAKES sub genere things. they depend on it more then we do. magazines mostly, they need to classify everything, into easy few words to describe anything to catch readers attention easier.
saying this guy produces dnb, this guy produces darkstep, or this guy produces dnb with a darker element with atmospheric sounds and one the beat hits, with lots of odd samples that set the mood for a horror flick.
which one easy more on the target. dnb producers could be chillax music to hardcore rave. produces darkstep tells so much in one word. explaining it gets boring.

there's big difference when listening to Kryptic Minds, Evol Intent, Tech Itch, Dylan << and >> Dj Zinc, Pascal, Hype << and >> LTJ Bukeem, Saint Germain
dudes subgenres such as Techstep, Hardstep, Darkstep sound completely different to Jump Up, ClownStep that is pendulum tarantula my ass that shit is corny as f@ck and jungle doesn't exist anymore that would be old uncompressed rearranged amen break with loadsa nature sound and maybe those whack regGAY samples like let's smuka reefa maan wtf they saying anyways some Shaun Paul bula bula bula give it up to me

Check out John Rolodex (can't see me/ sut the f!@# up) tech recordings, or chase and status (stand off/ call to prayer) barcode recordings. I pretty sure thats the type of sound your after.
If so let me know and I'll give you some tips on how to go about it.
