The question from D-Lux made me think of writing a production FAQ about musical terms and such that would be intresting for any starting DnB producer.
What do you guys recon should be in the FAQ?

Was more thinking in terms of
- What is a reece, how do I make one
- What is an Amen, how do I make one
- How do I make my breakz roll
- How do I make my basslines phat...

don't know about this: if you explain to someone how to get this or that sound, he'll maybe get that sound, but without understanding why. So he's not a real producer is it?
Imo it's better to explain things like applied human hearing and signal processing so you understand what happens eg when you turn that resonance knob up.
Hence next time you have some sound in your head you wanna make, it'll be easier to know what knobs to turn instead of just trying things out without knowing what to do. Cause that's what it's all about I think: being able to put the sound/rythm that you have in your head, out of your speakers.

really don't like this... see, imo the fun part of being a producer is being able to experiment. I worked my ass of to find a certain type of bassline, surely you don't give your secrets away just like that. Maybe i'm a bit egocentric here, but that's the way i feel about it. It think you should do an effort yourself. If someone tells you it's just too easy. Where's the fun?

I wouldn't give any step by step, just guidelines. Like the reece. OK, it's two sawtooths with some detuning, filtering and distortion. But it isn't that easy to make it really phat sounding, even when you know this, isn't it?
And for the Dilly bass: 808 kick with some distortion.
But to get the exact sound, you do have to experiment a lot, and play around with settings and filters.
So I think it would be great to help people on the way, to give them a start, and let them do their own thing from there on...
Don't you think that's a good idea?

Basics would help me a lot...
Like fe. What does a good DnB song need?
1. A break
1.1 a kick
1.2 a snare
1.3 a ghost snare
2. cymbals
3. bassline
4.
etc etc
and give a short explaination bout it + eventually some examples or how to make it sound different
Other thing I was wondering:
Last I made a song with some bassline, and someone told me ther was a lack off subbass... Are these 2 different things or???
how to make a reece has been explained a couple off times, so copy past will do
hmmmm ... What else do I need to know..
A LOT, so any help is welcome... I am experimenting a lot (lately experimenting with gate) and learning a lot.. But aal those knobs make me nervous ... Sometimes I can hardly hear the difference
Any way, bigup for trying to help us out

euhm i wasn't serious
who the fuck wants to sound like another producer is imo on the wrong way ...
it's good to experiment, but the goal is doing your own stuff ...
imo

Yeah sure I agree that nothing beats experimenting to find out what you need to know, but it is a very lengthy and energy consuming thing. There are certain rules to mixing and making songs which you can learn from tutorials too!! I know that most beginning producers spend months and months experimenting just to find out the most basic techniques for themselves. People can gain a lot of time and experience from listening to other people who've been down the same road IMO!!
