to make rex files what do you usually do if there is something like a snare roll in the break where its not really seperated, because this can sound like shit once in the sequencer, same question for when there is like a delayed cymbal or something... this also sounds whack... do you even bother chopping it up?

I was cutting a reggae loop and the first hit was a delayed cymbal over a kick drum, and i know i could just replace the hi hats say with some of the cleaner hats in the break therefore getting rid of the odd spacing of the delayed cymbal, but i just think it sounds weird....

so what do u usually do if a break is not well defined?

Huh

To make sure you get the roll nicely usually you can autocut to 16's or 8's...
I seem to always get rolls fine..
However, depending on if you using 4/4 or 8/4 too .. Distinguish that first, then probably use an application where you can autocut to 8's and 16's
if it uses 32's autocut to 32's. You probably already know that...

For songs with swing... if it uses 8's, save a rex with 8's and then cut the area where there is swing to 16s.

Hopefully I have described that correctly.
Let me ask, what application do you use to cut?

oh yeah, im using recycle.

i dont really understand what your on about to be honest... recycle is transient based theres no real timeline cutting,i.e in 8ths, and 16ths. Thats why when theres something that stretches over other transients it usually fucks up the sound of the cut up loop a bit

i do use the pen tool, to draw in where the transient is... my problem is if a hit is delayed or something, it will be across multiple hits, and the gaps between make it sound like shite Crying

I know a really difficult way,
stretching them over eachother and enveloping
or cheap fade in fade out...

does that make sence?

for an example,

find a 4/4 beat cut into 4/8/16
get a 1:100 ratio on the whole length (time)
eg 2.0 seconds per 1/8
0.4 seconds

1st cut 2nd cut
1.6 - [0.8] -1.6
[area of overlapping]
