Hey hey, this is my first post. Forum looks great.

So...

I've been trying to make my 1st tune for a while but Im starting from scratch again. I have Reason 3 and the jungle warfare refill. I sorta want to limit myself to just a few instruments so I can keep myself on a fairly straight and simple course.

Im thinking of just like one redrum attached to an extra filter, one pad of some kind with some effects, a simple bass - probably straight out of the JW refill, and a Dr. Rex for a loop or two.

I wanna make a sorta chilled D'n'B track - I have a fairly clear vision in my head. I want to float around in pad land for a while, filters doing some shit, suggesting the rhythm with the bass and the lfo's, then the drums coming in and picking up a rhythm, and maybe dropping out again and coming in with different filters and what not. Em, have I just described the whole genre of electronic music? Im new to this!

Anyway, I would love some tips or suggestions if u got some for me!

experiment experiment experiment experiment experiment experiment experiment experiment experiment... (repeat if needed)--> upload the shit, see what others think about it. Adjust, reupload or dump it and start the process all over.

It's a good idea to keep it simple at first.

you got it man.
Just do what sounds and feels right.
When you're done, pass out copies of it to everyone that you know and get as much feedback as possible and, most importantly, take all that feedback to heart.
Also, go into the production believing that you're gonna make a song.
The thing with the songs that I do is that I can only make a song if I say I'm gonna make a song.
If I'm just playing around, nothing ever gets done.
