ello all..

i have so many tunes on my hdd's that i really want to rinse them badly but cant mix properly with the program i use, (traktor dj studio) so i thought of connecting my mixer.

i'm having trouble finding out hoe to do it on the net, i thought i'd have a look instead of going on with it as i have a very basic knowledge of line in out stereo and mono terms etc.

is it a straight forward procedure???

is it even possible?

i have a uno midi sport usb converter and more than enough cables for the job im sure.

do i just plug a cable into the line input on my laptop and then fiddle around with the inputs on the back of the mixer or do i have to use my usb midi converter??

any feedback is gratly apprieciated as i really wanna rinse these tune badly before i go to work tonight.

thanks guys

Glim

hmm... tried every combination and it doesnt work. i somehow need to split the signal from my output port on soundcard coz at the moment i can only get it t play through 1 channel in my external mixer when i need it in both to be able to mix properly..

i think i need one of those connecters that is 1 headphone jacks into 2, im really not sure, maybe there's more than one way of doing it but i was hoping to manage it without buying anymore hardware...

hmmm.... Confused

edit: that connecter - is it called an audio doohickey?? Confused

.it's really just your soundcard that's important,..do you have an external soundcard or internal?,.....just plug your in/out's into your soundcard,...if you want to use it in cubase you'll need the usb action,.. have never used tracktor,..so i don't really know what's goin on.....sorry i know this didn't help,...cheers Glim.

yeah if you've got it workin on the one channel on your mixer,...and are all out of in's and out's,...your right,..you might need a split sorta cable,..i used to have do that with my old mixer,..was the only way,..my new mixer has enough in's and out's to do the job without needin a split type jak,.. anyway keep fiddlin with it,...sound's like you almost have it.

no no no man its cool- all feedback on this one is grately apprieciated man.. my soundcard is in my laptop and all i have is 1 main output, 1 mic input and 1 line input..

i plug the main output through my external mixer and both (virtual) decks's output plays through the same channel, so i cant seperate them. unless on the back of my external mixer i plug the left main output into channel one and the right into channel two....

cant mix like that, i mean each channel plays from a different speaker..

im going mad.

i hope this doesnt mean i have to buy an external soundcard... would that have more main outputs?? i dont think it would..?

i think i need one of them audio doohckey things man... but i dont know?.

cheers equipped.. Confused Wink

well an externall soundcard would do it too,...but for cheaper you can get a wee used mixer,...much better for plugin in lots of hardware.

you need an external (since youre using a laptop) soundcard with multiple outs, at least 2 which you assign to each deck in traktor

I've absolutely no idea how it works, or even if it'll work, but a friend of mine used this to help configure his computer for djing with ableton.

Sorry I cant be more helpful.

yeh I think it will cause its got 4 outs as it says in that link. you have the manual for traktor - sugest you read it, there must be a "list of supported hardware" or something, so you know it will work

You need a soundcard with at least 2 outputs and some asio drivers (try asio4all if your soundcard doesn't have any by itsself). If you're lucky your laptop will have a 5.1 soundcard, and you can set up the asio drivers in traktor to send channel one to the front speakers, and channel 2 to the rear speakers, and then you connect those to your mixer input
If you only have one output, you will need an external soundcard.
