All tracks in the tunes page are now played using the new flash player!

So as requested by nearly every producer on the site the tracks are not directly downloadable anymore Big Grin

I'm going to put an option in so producers can allow tracks to be downloaded on a per track basis, but that's for the future.

For now enjoy the instant playback Big Grin

this is the best addition / change of the site ever. big ups!

on a sidenote. is the bitrate still 96kbps?

suggestion: can it be made that the player starts off with less than maximum volume? I just blasted my colleague at work lol

The player uses low bitrate files yes. But I am using low bitrate VBR (variable bitrate) now instead of fixed 96kbps CBR (constant bitrate) because the quality is much much better.

I did a lot of testing and comparing of sound quality vs file size, and ended up using: LAME -V 7 --vbr-new --resample 44100
The bitrate depends on the quality of the original. It is encoded using VBR to preserve the quality as best as possible. The files end up somewhere between 70kbps and 120kbps.

BTW I checked some of the 70kbps files and the quality was still OK. The latest versions of LAME are amazing, never thought that <128kbps could sound like this Big Grin

yup,...that flash player is all good id say,...nice work Chronic<{Bad man does it all for free btw},...but maybe havin the old tunes page still in action,.... for just the current upload's might still be good,...though im not totally up to date with all the new changes,... so im probably suggesting something thats allready happened in some way or another,..anyway big cheers for all your hard work Chronic,...you make it all happen.<<<sound's chessy im shure,...but it be the truth.cheers fat man.

I think they stay on the server, just in a unaccessible folder.
