try staring a new project. press f11 (i think) and this will bring up ya vst instruments thing, click on the blank bit and load up a vsti.
then add a midi track in the seq window.
u have to select a midi in and midi out. for the in select your controller. for the out select the vsti that u have loaded up.
OR.
create an audio track.
then go import audio. and play around.
ill post some screenshots a bit later if u cant figure it out.

yeah basically start a new project,..go to top left and click->{File},..then{New Project},... id go with..{Empty} for now,..then when project is up,..ill type the rest if your really into that bit,....cheers.....Cubase is forshure a solid piece of poo.
