that's totally biased. I find Reason way easier than anything. it's the old story of personal preferences

bango makes mean bass, but is never easy to automate.

Using FL6 and Cool Edit.
FL is cool for me (tried Reason, but didn't like it, good sound quality though).
I truely hate the sequencer in FL (as I did in Reason), it just doesn't do what I want it to do.
I also think automation could be WAY better and easier in FL (Reason is better on this point).

Yeah, Reason is poepsimple, dunno if it's equally simple as FL, but I guess they're about the same. It's just a bit different...

with fl i managed to make something that could be called a song from the first attempt (now who wants to hear it?
)
while with reason, after fifteen minutes of trying every button, i only got some drums programmed..
but the my program pwns your program shit is all overrated imo, just use waht ever u want to use..
I give 1€ for the first one to get a tune released that was made entirely in hammerhead

Something cool about Reason is that you have no tabbed-view onto the different units. In other words, you can see all controlls all the time which gives a far better overview for automation (also the colored boxes around automated controlls do help). But I hate the scrolling all the time.
In FL studio I tend to tweak the wrong control as they all look alike and sometimes you can have 40+ controls open on one big pile. I'm studying the FL bible for now, but it's a fat book and I have little time.
I wonder what the pro's (people that have record deals and 10+ releases) are using. They often coop with other producers, so I can't imagine that one is using FL and the other Reason or something.

yeah, that was quite annoying to me too, but now I use the little arrows on the devices all the time which minimize the device and only leave maximized the ones where is some automation going on.
how about an idea for Reason 4: you see the sequencer window only and when you click on the name of a certain device, it pops up the machine window with the corresponding devices that are used, VST style

Not going to happen. They want a pack that is stand alone, no extras needed. Also, badly programmed plugins can make a program unstable...

These days it's quite common to have 2 screens next to eachother on a good PC. I have it and it's nice, but due to the setup of Reason it won't help you out.

Heya peoples,
I use REason 3.0.3 slaved to ableton live 5.0.2 witha novation remote25SL
as for fruity....i found the interface to be not user friendly in the slightest...and it reminds me of a blown out tracker....but not to disrespect it, i have a heap of friends who use it...with amazing results. I just didnt like the way you put tracks together..
Reason on the other hand, i learnt in a week in early 2000. and have been using it ever since. the best, and most stable program ever. I;ve never had a crash in all the years ive been using it. EVER! there aren't many pieces of software that can claim that!
Again, its all down to personal preference..so long as the music is good, who gives a toss what you used to make it!
I have cubase sx3 also, but i rarely use it because everything i need to achieve i can do in reason / ableton / sound forge 8...if it aint broke...
... with the exception of the roland v-vocal plugin thats pretty cool, and easier than my vp9000 (if not as highly featured)
later ppls
ps. Oh, and I use dual screens. whoever mentioned that its not helpful for reason, is mistaken. you can have sequencer on one screen, and the rack on the other, much easier to use.
