Man, your bassline is at a sick level! Everything here was about blown away when it kicked in!!! Lower that volume a bit. And oh yeah, not your best track Roll Eyes

Hehe yeah drop that bassline to half of the volume, it's too much Big Grin

For your beats --- the main problem is that you program your beats using the same velocity for every hit + it is quantized very precisely. This gives it a very electro-style robotic feel.

What you need to do is to 'humanize' the beat. The best thing to do this is to use your MIDI keyboard to enter the beats (so don't program them in using the mouse). This way you can put in little accents by playing f.e. some hihat hits a little louder than others. Also the timing will not be that perfect, which gives it a better feel.

You can then quantize the kick and snares perfectly, but don't quantize the hihats too strictly, only correct the notes that sound really out of the rhythm.

Also: try applying SWING to the beat (you can do this in Cubase and Logic, don't know about other programs). This works perfectly and gives a really good groove to the music.

Another thing: start out using a real drum loop!!! There has been a thread on breakz with a lot of sample download sites. Find a nice groovy drum loop, cut it up in pieces and use this to make your beat!
