I've got this problem with one of my technics sl1200mkII.
It brings bad sound, especially on Calibre's Drop it down. He likes to jump on Pendulum's Minds Eye and other tracks with beats like that.(so those jump-up like bts)
So I would think weight isn't heavy enough?
It's already at 2.9 and I dont wont do damage my vinyl.
Anti-skate you say?
It skips in every direction, when i try beatmix on 48X from Digital and I grab the snare in the first pattern with beats it skips back to where the beat begun. It even happens if u grab it 4 pttrns further

Could it be the head?
It has a brandless head with SC35C on it.
My other one works perfect and it has an original (technics) one (stanton 500)
Maybe the position? If u put the good one one plate it leans a little like this /
The bad one goes more like that \
Help me, pls...I've tried almost everything

it's so annoying if you're "goe bezig" and the it starts to skip or sound bad....

think I misread your post

since I thought the problem was the 500 AL needle (with which I encountered many problems, like the ones you mentioned)

don't think I can help though

but it's probably the needles fault...
and a new one won't help, just get one of another make (concorde/ortofons do the job just fine with me)

Minor investment comin' up...
I'd go for the Ortofon's as well. Standard performance. Works for spinning as wel as scratchin. Good sound-quality combined with some versatility.

it could be the vibration from the sound system making your records skip etc.......tey putting your decks on a concrete slab of some kind or something solid...or move ya speakers!!!!

I don't think it's that.
I've set my speakers on styropor(piepschuim) a long time ago...
And it even skips when it ain't playin loud, or low basses.
I know my very old cdplayer skips on the basses my soundsystem produces. But he olso skips when you close the door or walk around in the room or when you're workin on your desk and you lay down your pen, so..

Those tunes were just like an example.

If I have to buy new needles, ok ortofon is good but so expensive.
Anyone who knows some cheaper alternatives for it?
I've read something about shure white labels...
