Was just wondering if there was an IRC chan - seems there isn't...
For peepz who would be interested - maybe the easyest is to make one on quakenet - there you can just request an L-bot which is managed by the network itself - no need to worry about shell-accounts, configs, and chan takeovers... Officially - the chan should be game-related - but nobody cares :p
You could also try EFNet or Kreynet - but there you have to provide your own bots.

A lot of the guys here also visit the #breakz channel on efnet (I think it is efnet) so I don't think we need a sepperate chat

a chatroom is an excellent idea.......but i would make it producers only..
oit would stop a lot of the threads about guns, politics, car crashes etc
and the offtopic bit at the minute is like a chat anyway.
would be perfect for the prodcers.....much quicker way of communicating.and at least if it was on the site u dont have to put up with other muppets!!!

Yeah, but you cannot provide in-depth analysis, and it will steal 80% of the posts on the forum (my presumption).. anyway, if we install a chat room, much more users will come on this site...

Well, if you're doing it on UNDERNET servers, you can register a channel, and then automatically a bot named X comes and sits on the channel as long as the channel is registered.
Or you can log in throught ADSL connection, and remain there.
For the X bot, we have to register our usernames on IRC-UNDERNET servers, and then vote for the channel. I think there is a requirement of 10 people or sumthing, not too sure.... I don't remember, but I woz doing this a year or so b4.

well i think a chat is a good idea, at least you would get rid of a lot of the bollocks in the off topic banter section, plus it would be a quicker way to answer peeps production problems, they would at least get a quicker reply.

I've downloaded it and had a look at it, but it needs a java installation on the server, which I find a bit excessive to do just to run a chatroom.

OK just for fun I've installed a Flash chat server which had a very cheap license ($5!!) but looks pretty OK.
